Lisa Taylor is an emerging artist currently studying at Elam School of Fine Arts, majoring in painting. Her work deals with issues of femininity, sexual and social identity, referencing ideas and formal elements from such artists as Jacqueline Fayhey, Paula Rego, Cindy Sherman, Judy Chicago, Picasso and especially woman surrealists such as Leonor Fini.
"The Feminine Illusion" tripych combines portraits of femininity

with classic images of tragedy. The women  remain confrontational although they are missing eyes and have a masquerade look referencing social hierachy and Picasso's "Les Desmoiselles D'Avignon"."Body Assemblage", mixed media diptych where body parts and functions are read as individual parts references desire and sin within society and religion. The rules which people live by in order to fit into their construct of society, also so we can taxonomise ourselves into a place in society.
