I graduated from Whitireia Community Polytechnic’s Craft Design programme in 1997 and since then have been making body adornment and
sculpture, teaching design and jewellery as well as being the Assistant Jeweller for The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. Hot metal is what really
attracts me - I find soldering is essential to my mental and physical well-being; too long |
| out of the workshop and I start going stir-crazy. Inspiration comes from the multiplicity of life
and its absurdities. Recent themes include the season (Spring), geography, semiotics, music and literature, language, politics, history, idiocy and the circus. When I am not working, teaching or studying (currently towards an Honours Degree in Art History), I like to hang upside down on a trapeze. |
